Quick Garlic & Basil Pita Crisps with a Homemade Garlicky Hummus
Makes 16 crisps per pita
I was feeling very snack-y today so I whipped this up super fast. Cut my cravings off at the knees. Even the homemade hummus was relatively quick; I got everything done and on the table in under 20 minutes, which means you can too! I hope you guys are liking some of these more simple, healthy recipes. I often wonder if they are even worth posting they're so easy, but everyone seems to love them so as long as you guys enjoy them I'll keep sharing them. Enjoy!!

PRO TIPS
You can season the pita crisps with different combinations of seasoning depending on what you're vibing that day. Such as spicy moroccan flavours, or chilli-style Mexican flavours, or even garam masala and cumin for a curry flavour!
You can use brown or white pitas for this recipe pretty easily.
If you don't have an oven (I do know people without one!) you can make the crisps in batches in a frying pan, it just requires a bit more patience.
Add some funky flavours to the hummus, like caramelised onions, roasted red peppers, or go for a babaganoush hummus and chuck in some roasted eggplants. The possibilities are endless.

Recipe
Ingredients
Pita Crisps
6 wholemeal pita breads, sliced in half and cut into 16 triangles
2 tablespoons of mild olive oil
2 tablespoons of garlic powder
2 tablespoons of onion powder
1 tablespoon of dried basil
1 teaspoon of salt
Hummus
400g can of chickpeas, drained
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tahini
1 large clove of garlic, minced
1/4 of fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of sweet paprika
2-3 tablespoons of water
Method
Pita Crisps
Preheat your oven to 220℃.
Spread the pita triangles over a large lined baking tray, separated from one another.
Brush each pita with a little bit of oil (doesn't have to perfectly cover the pita, you can be quick about it)
Sprinkle over all of your seasonings and then pop the tray in the oven for 7-10 minutes or until they are crispy.
Hummus
Blend all of your ingredients together in a food processor. Taste the hummus and add more water if you like it smoother.
You can also add more of any other ingredient if you want it to taste i.e. more garlicky or more lemon-y.
Serve alongside your pita crisps and enjoy!
