My very first post!
Why a Food Blog???
So, hi, my name is Romy, I’m a 22-year-old actor from New Zealand who lives in London and, surprise, surprise, I love food. Like, I really love food. I take pictures of all the things I make and post them on my Instagram story, so, when I got a new phone with a bomb-ass camera, I decided to make an Instagram and a website to share my recipes and, honestly, to have a hobby. As a creative, I’ve got a lot of down-time to let my mind wander, and whilst some wandering is good, a lot is counter-productive. Hence – Feed Her Salt.

I honestly believe anyone can cook; I have burned cookies in the same week as managing to make an orzo pasta giouvetsi with Ossobuco. Only last year, most of my meals were stir-fry’s, pasta dishes, and salads. All of a sudden, I’m making paella, chicken piccata, brioche cinnamon rolls, tiramisu, and so much more. SO! Get through the burning, the over-cooking, the under-cooking, the flat, the bland, the inedible, because what’s waiting on the other side is heaven, and you won’t have to pay extortionate prices for it.
I’m here to help and I’m here to give recipes that may or may not be super delicious (depending on how crap you are at following a recipe). I’m also here to talk about food in a less-than-kosher manner sometimes; but hey, there is a reason #foodporn is a thing.

Why ‘Feed Her Salt’?
I refuse to sugarcoat my naming process. I had a list of about 40 names, some of which sucked, some of which sounded cheesy, and some of which were super not okay (butter her garlic [why Romy why???]). Ultimately, I dwindled it down to four names and randomly sent them to some of my friends. Of course, they all picked different ones, but one of my friends, let’s call her Jessie, said that the reason ‘Feed Her Salt’ stuck out to her was because it reminded her of a poem: ‘Eat Me’ by Patience Agbabi. Whilst not meant to be particularly pleasant or funny, the speaker (a woman aging from 30 to 40) ends up drowning her partner in her flesh because he kept feeding her to make her bigger (I think it’s a fetish thing but don’t quote me on it)*. Jessie said that it reminded her of me because I would totally do something like drown a boyfriend or eat him. This was definitely reason enough for me to bite the bullet and go with the name. But also...I love salt.
From me to you,
Stay salty,
Romy x
*Not the drowning in flesh thing… the feeding thing. The feeding thing is meant to be a fetish. I really hope that was clear.
